- Description
- Multiphase drives in electric vehicles are subject to various disturbances, both internal and external. Commonly used linear and nonlinear controllers are not always capable to successfully cope with these disturbances. The focus of this work is the improvement of speed control algorithm for a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), which is based on a sliding mode control (SMC) scheme and a novel disturbance observer. Proposed control has a simple and robust structure, and allows for an easy utilization of non-linear functions, such as sign or saturation. The effectiveness of the proposed speed control is enhanced by a novel disturbance observer. As a result, highly accurate speed control of five-phase PMSM is achieved. Feasibility of the proposed control strategy is verified on FPGA/DSC based five-phase PMSM drive.
